neighboursZimbabwe and Zambia’s trade volume has climbed to US$59.2 million in the first five months of the year, with Zimbabwe looking to increase exports to Zambia.

As the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation reports, statistics by ZimTrade have shown the current trade volumes are in favour of Zambia, and have led local firms to explore different ways of lowering the deficit.

According to ZimTrade Chief Executive Officer, Mr Allan Majuru, growing the export market base to Zambia was still a possibility.

He said: “The opportunities are there for us to see and it is just a matter of time before we look at possible ways to boost exports.”

ZimTrade showed that as a result of growing demand from Zambia’s economy, fast moving consumer goods and mining supply sectors would likely benefit more.
